Scenic Chronicles are a series of images of the same scene taken over a long period of time. Back to the Wolfe Park Scenic Chronicles Page.
On the Blue Bird trail there is an overlook which looks over a meadow where you'll sometimes see deer. You're facing east by northeast. There is the plaza on Front Street ahead in the middle of the frame. You might be able to make out the "Lowes" sign. Looking beyond that, you see two hills with a valley between and a third hill way off in the distance. The Chenango River winds through there. The first valley being Chenango Bridge and then Port Crane in the most distant valley.
First image. You see a little white from an early snow.
First part of December is mild. The white in the background are roofs from a plaza.
Finally more snow on the ground.
Sunny day that ate away at the snow.
Late winter or early spring.
Still late winter, early spring.
A few buds starting to form.
Spring has sprung. You see green on the trees near the overlook and shrubs with leaves down in the clearing. Also the far tree line has leaves again.
Green every where.
Looks like some trees and shrubs have been growing.
A fairly wet summer has kept things green.
A hint of color in the tree at end of clearing.
The color here is mostly from the sun going at a lower angle.
Here you can see a lot more color even on this cloudy day with hides the hills in the distance.
Some leaves have dropped and others are brilliant.
A lot has gone dormant here.
Snow blanketing the clearing, some bows a little lower stretched by the snow.
At first, I thought I had the last picture duplicated. A couple days ago, we had a 48-hour weather event starting with snow, then winter mix, more snow, squalls, and high winds.
I was fighting time with an incoming storm, but not horribly dark yet. Several weeks since last visit, and can seem some buds on plants.
