William Nabinger enlisted on September 23, 1942. He was a pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber (42-38213) with the 815th Bomber Squadron, 483rd Bomber Group, 15th Air Force. He was killed in action over Biechhammer, Germany on July 7, 1944 when the nose of his B-17 destroyed by flak and crashed with all lost. His squadron had been based in Amendola Airfield in Italy. He was survived by his parents Tracy and Anna Nabinger of Endicott.
There is a "Hometown Hero Banner" to honor Lieutenant Nabinger in the Village of Endicott. It is located on the west side of Washington Avenue between Monroe and North Streets. Angeline's Flowers are across the street. See Hometown Heroes page for more details.
