Scenic Chronicles are a series of images of the same scene taken over a long period of time. Back to the Chenango Valley State Park Scenic Chronicles page.
I often hike the Bog Trail and as it approaches Chenango Lake, there is a bridge built by Eagle Scout Craig Alpaugh in 1992. Craig was part of Boy Scout Troop 152, Kattelville, NY. From the bridge, we get this view of Chenango Lake, facing west. (Not to be confused with another Chenango Lake farther north in Chenango County. 🤣
The water is down just a smidge from November.
A little bit of snow from this mild winter.
I don't recall much ice on the lake at all this winter.
Foggy morning.
Look how low the water is. The lake level is controled somewhat by a dam way off to the left in the picture.
Water is back up. And the leaves have really popped.
Someone fishing mid-image.
A wet summer kept things green.
Water level way down again.
You see some color change on far shore.
Some leaves falling, and all changed colors. Water up a smidge.
Most leaves off and water up.
Much more snow and cold this year.
Frozen lake, except where this stream from bog feeds into it.
The ice starts to recede.
