Scenic Chronicles are a series of image of the same scene over time. These are from the Apalachin Marsh.
Along the western edge of the Marsh Loop, a bit north of the Bird Blind, is a bench. One year I noticed some wild flowers near it so in 2025, I decided to add it to the list as more of a focused chronicle rather than a larger landscape. Let's see what happens.
A lot of standing dead snags in the Marsh provide food or habitat for birds, small mamals, and insects. This one along the North Point Trail caught my eye. It's opposite the North Point Trail Bend View. I found it interesting how the backdrop of the dead tree changes through the seasons and the amount of light that enters corresponds with those changes. The ferns that bow down during winter, but rise again throughout spring.

The North Point Trail has a bend in it on the western side coming off the Marsh Loop Trail. From this point our scene is looking west to where one of the fingers of the marsh water reaches inwards.

Along the North Point Trail, on the western side, you'll find a bench facing the water from the northeast corner of the water. Despite the nearby westbound lanes, this is a fun spot to watch for birds either in the water in front of you, water in the distance, or at times a raptor in the tall trees off slightly to the right in the distance. This spot is relatively close to the North Point Trail Bend Scenic Chronicle View.
One of the first things you get to see and experience at the Apalachin Marsh is going through a tunnel under the eastbound lane of Interstate 86. It's not so long that it becomes too dark to see. It is a bit cooler in the Summer time. A few things to watch include how the tunnel becomes a bit more obscured as plants grow and the large oak tree on the otherside of the tunnel.
